The jaws that rend bring strength to the pack, but the eyes that see bring wisdom to the world.

Every Wolfkin chieftain knows the day will come when a challenger arises to take over the pack. For many, death at the jaws of their adversary is a noble end. Others are left crippled or shamed to wander into the wilds and accept a lonely death.

Death, however, is not the destiny for all deposed Wolfkin chiefs.

Some find companionship in the Voice of the Ragged Moon, a pack made up of former chieftains and shamans. This community serves to retain and leverage the shared wisdom of its members – the collection of experiences gathered by Wolfkin leaders across the land – to serve the long-term goals of all of their kin.

Beliefs

The Voice of the Ragged Moon believes that the Demons and Dragons that once dominated the world will someday return to take up their epic battle. If mortals are to survive, they must band together rather than remaining a disparate set of bickering factions.

Conflicts

The Voice holds the belief that, in ancient times, the Elves and Dwarves broke covenant with the Wolfkin to stand together against the primordial forces that threatened all their lives. They claim the Dwarves retreated below the ground and the Elves hid themselves in the Wildwood, leaving the Wolfkin to stand with the newly arrived and untrustworthy humans. To achieve their goals, the Voice of the Ragged Moon must overcome these long-lived prejudices.

Members of the Voice, particularly those new to the pack, may be far more difficult for non-Wolfkin to interact with in a fruitful manner. Those who have more firmly embraced the goals of the Voice of the Ragged Moon are more willing to listen to requests for alliances.

Structure

The key figures within the Voice of the Ragged Moon were once leaders of their own packs. As such, they are apt to act on their own instincts rather than consult with the group. That has led to the establishment of a strong leadership function, shared by two senior Wolfkin:

First Fang

Lysone Greymane acts as pack leader for the Voice of the Ragged Moon. A Wolfkin of years uncounted, he remains unnaturally hale of body and sound of mind. Lysone represents and guides the physical strength of the pack.

Night Mother

Andavin Bloodclaw is the spiritual leader of the pack, communing with nature and sharing her wisdom to guide the pack on how to bring together the various Wolfkin packs and strengthen bonds with the other kin.

Tenders of the Path

Once a Wolfkin gains honor and respect within the Voice and has shown commitment to the pack’s mission, they will be charged with guiding and training new packmates in the Way of the Voice. They will provide instruction on the methods to engage other packs and other kin. They will oversee each Wolfkin’s spirit journey.

Random Encounter

Gravous Redbreath was recently brought into the fold of the Voice and is on a spirit journey to learn his place in the pack. His old pack, however, has learned he still lives and is hunting him.

Adventure Seed

The Demon Grrivledrek has been whispering in the ears of young Wolfkin, “Your time is now. Your leader is weak. Blood must be spilled for the good of the pack.” He promises they are ready and that they will win. He even offers magical aid to ensure their victory. What does Grrivldrek gain by deposing Wolfkin leaders? What happens to those that are deposed? Will they be allowed to join the Voice of the Ragged Moon or hunted and killed at their weakest point? What happens to the pack when a new Wolfkin takes over but is not truly ready?
